Resign or take a leave, unvaccinated barangay officials told

AN official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) told barangay officials who are still unvaccinated to resign or take a leave of absence for the meantime while the pandemic is still raging.

This came after barangay officials were ordered to search for residents who are still unvaccinated and prevent them from leaving their homes.

According to DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño, barangay officials who refuse to have themselves vaccinated may be arrested.

Those who are still unvaccinated, your can either resign or take a leave while the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing. It’s embarrassing to know that you are supposed to enforce the law on vaccination yet you are the ones unvaccinated?”  according to Diño.

The DILG also urged barangay officials to show proof that they are already vaccinated to encourage residents to take the jab.

The National Task Force against COVID-19 said 70 percent of the population are fully vaccinated already.
