Residential fire in Baclaran, Parañaque quickly contained

Parañaque City – A residential fire broke out on Opeña Street corner Mactan Street, Barangay Baclaran on February 8, 2025, but was swiftly contained by responding firefighters, preventing any casualties or injuries.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Parañaque received the report at 9:36 AM and immediately dispatched fire trucks to the scene. By 9:50 AM, SFO2 Angelito Panis confirmed the first alarm. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 9:55 AM, and it was fully extinguished by 10:02 AM.

The fire, which originated on the ground floor, affected four houses, displacing five families and 15 individuals. Estimated damage was pegged at ₱5,000, based on the BFP Operational Procedure Manual (Class D).

A total of 12 fire trucks responded, with six from the BFP and six from volunteer and local government units (LGU). Additionally, one ambulance from the BFP was deployed to the site, though no injuries were reported.

The property was owned by Corazon Ovita, while the affected residence was occupied by the Quita family. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which reportedly started on the ground floor and spread toward the third-floor roof.

SFO2 Angelito B. Panis served as the ground commander and safety officer, while fire arson investigators SFO1 Gennie H. Huidem and FO3 Jeniva S. Jose are conducting further inquiries into the incident.
