THE Philippine Army (PA) has reactivated the Office of the Chief Infantry as part of its strategic initiative to enhance the capabilities of its infantry units and transform them into a formidable fighting force.
PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala announced that the reactivation ceremony took place on Thursday at the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, with PA chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido presiding over the event.
“The reactivation of the Office of the Chief Infantry marks a strategic step towards strengthening our force structure and enhancing the capabilities of our infantry units,” said Galido.
Originally deactivated in 2004, the Office of the Chief Infantry will now serve as the “nerve center for planning force design, capability development, and the seamless integration of doctrines into operations.” This initiative aligns with the military’s broader shift toward external security operations, ensuring infantry units remain highly adaptable and mission-ready.
Galido emphasized that this move reaffirms the Army’s commitment to sustaining programs and innovations that enhance operational readiness and effectiveness.
The office will be led by Col. Victorino Seño.
This reactivation follows the establishment of the Project Management and Modernization Center in December 2024. Both initiatives are part of the PA’s ongoing efforts to restructure into a modern, cross-domain-capable, and multi-mission ground force.
