THE number of COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) continue to decline after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded a 0.5 reproduction number or the speed in contracting the disease.
However, DOH Spokesperson and Undersecretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire said the number of virus infection cases in the NCR is still high.
This means people should not be complacent since numbers change fast and possibly increase if people will not take extra care.
The DOH earlier said that the peak in the number of COVID-19 in the NCR had already been reached amid the entry of the Omicron variant.
From 18,000 cases the past week, it had already declined to an estimated 7,000 cases in the NCR.
Likewise, Vergeire said the number of admissions in hospitals, including positivity rate, continue to decline.
Vergeire added that although many cases with the Omicron variant were recorded, the number of severe and critical cases were also prevented primarily because of the increase in the number of individuals already fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
