THE number of police personnel who contracted COVID-19 continue to increase, which explains why the quarantine facility at Camp Crame is now at full capacity.

The isolation, quarantine and treatment facilities of the Philippine National Police (PNP) inside Camp Crame are now at 100-percent bed occupancy rate, citing data from the PNP Health Service.

According to PNP Deputy Chief for Administration and Administrative Support to COVID 19 Task Force Commander PLt. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz, this is due to the continued rise in the number of new COVID-19 cases with the Omicron variant

Currently, 573 cases or about 102.32 percent, are now admitted at the facilities wherein 468 are PNP personnel, 74 are Non Uniformed Personnel and 17 civilians.

Because of over-capacity, some police personnel who tested positive cannot be accommodated anymore inside the facility.

This forced the PNP to open additional isolation and quarantine facilities located in police regional offices, especially in the “NCR Plus.”

Vera Cruz said they are already coordinating with local government units that can accommodate police personnel in their facilities.
