From February 16-22, 2025, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) conducted a series of anti-illegal drug and anti-criminality operations, resulting in the arrest of 232 individuals, QCPD Acting Director PCOL Melecio M. Buslig, Jr. reported.
Crackdown on Illegal Drugs
A total of 47 operations were carried out, leading to the arrest of 73 drug suspects and the confiscation of illegal drugs worth Php3,246,056.00.
Apprehension of Wanted Persons
Authorities arrested 71 wanted individuals, including 24 Most Wanted Persons and 47 Other Wanted Persons. Among those apprehended were:
- Maricel Ben, 48 – Wanted for Qualified Theft; evaded arrest for 16 years.
- Amid Sese, 46 – No. 4 Station Level Most Wanted Person (MWP) of La Loma Police Station (PS 1); wanted for violation of R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act); on the run for 9 years.
- Norberto Bordadora Escalera, 61 – No. 1 Station Level MWP of Novaliches Police Station (PS 4); wanted for Murder; eluded capture for 8 years.
- Alberto Pelilio Yanong, 27 – Wanted for violating a city ordinance; in hiding for 7 years.
The respective courts have been informed of their arrests.
Illegal Gambling Crackdown
In 41 operations against illegal gambling, 84 individuals were apprehended, and Php28,686.00 in bet money was seized.
Operations Against Illegal Firearms
Four individuals were arrested, and four firearms were recovered in separate operations targeting illegal possession of firearms.
PCOL Buslig, Jr. reaffirmed QCPD’s commitment to fighting crime, stating, “The arrests of wanted individuals and those involved in illegal activities prove our serious commitment to law enforcement. Expect intensified operations to ensure public safety.”
