LEGAZPI CITY – The spirit of Love Month took on a deeper meaning for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) from the Southern Legazpi Upland Barangays (SLUB) Linksfarm Farmers Association, as they gained valuable skills and resources through a partnership between the Department of Agrarian Reform Provincial Office (DARPO) Albay and the Albay Veterinary Office (AVO).
The initiative provided farmers with specialized training in Native Chicken Production, equipping them with essential knowledge to boost their poultry ventures. As part of the program, 60 native chickens were distributed to further strengthen their livelihoods.
Engr. Ralph Ibieta, farm manager of the Albay Livestock Station, led discussions on best practices in native chicken farming, while AVO Planning Officer Rocky Roger Lozanes outlined the long-term collaboration between AVO and SLUB through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The event was held at Sitio Tigasao Chapel in Mariawa.
Albay Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Pacho R. Mella personally facilitated the distribution of the native chickens, reaffirming AVO’s dedication to supporting local farmers.
For the members of the SLUB Linksfarm Farmers Association, this initiative is more than just training—it represents a step toward greater productivity and resilience. The event highlighted the power of partnerships in creating sustainable opportunities for farmers, who remain the backbone of Albay’s agricultural sector.
