The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced the arrest of five suspects linked to a robbery and carnapping incident on December 17, 2024.
QCPD Acting Director, PCol. Melecio M. Buslig, reported that operatives from the Anonas Police Station 9, led by PLt. Col. Zachary M. Capellan, identified the suspects as:
Ramil Mangaoang, 52, resident of Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City
Hendrix Velenia, 42, resident of Brgy. Tañong, Marikina City
Manuel Policarpio, 62, resident of Brgy. Tabacalera, Pateros
Julito Morada, 51, resident of Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City
Ryan Poltismo, 42, resident of Brgy. Bagong Pook, Calaca, Pampanga
Incident Details
According to the investigation, at around 10:27 AM on December 17, 2024, the suspects forcibly entered the residence of Nelson Castillo at No. 22 Xavierville Avenue, Brgy. Loyola Heights, Quezon City. They stole valuables and a Mitsubishi Adventure vehicle.
The victim immediately sought police assistance, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.
Recovery and Arrest Operations
On December 18, 2024, operatives from the District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU), led by PLt. Col. Hector Ortencio, traced the stolen Mitsubishi Adventure to Riverside Street, Provident Village, Brgy. Tañong, Marikina City. The vehicle was recovered at 11:50 PM.
Further investigation revealed the suspects’ use of a white Honda CR-V with plate number XRO 888. On December 19, 2024, follow-up operations led to the recovery of the vehicle in front of No. 55 Saint Therese Street, Provident Village, Brgy. Tañong, Marikina City.
On December 23, 2024, at approximately 10:30 AM, authorities conducted a follow-up operation at No. 404 Steve Street, Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City. The suspects were apprehended and found in possession of the following items:
One (1) Colt MK IV Series 80 caliber .45 pistol with a magazine and seven (7) live rounds
Three (3) caliber .38 revolvers with seven (7) live rounds
A box of live ammunition
Two (2) wristwatches (Casio and Weiguan)
Three (3) cellphones (Infinix smartphone, River 4G phone, Wico smartphone)
Two (2) sling bags (World Pack and Swiss Gear)
The suspects failed to present permits for the firearms, leading to their arrest, except for Manuel Policarpio, from whom no firearm was recovered.
Charges and Commitment
The recovered vehicles and items are now under police custody for further investigation. Charges of robbery, carnapping, and violations of R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) will be filed against the suspects, excluding the firearm-related charge for Policarpio.
Buslig commended the operatives for their swift action and reiterated the QCPD’s commitment to justice and public safety.
“This successful apprehension, recovery of stolen vehicles, and confiscation of illegal firearms underscore our relentless dedication to combating crime. We will continue working tirelessly to hold criminals accountable, dismantle criminal networks, and ensure a safer community for all,” he said.
