THE government reminded drivers and operators of Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) that there will be no more extension to the industry consolidation deadline, which is set on December 31, 2023.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the reminder is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. that the December 31, 2023 deadline for industry consolidation stays and there will be no extension.
The DOTr, together with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC), reminded PUV drivers and operators covered under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) to submit the following documents for their kanilang petition for consolidation:
- Latest LTO Official Receipt at Certificate of Registration (OR and CR);
- SEC Certificate of Registration/Certification (for Corporations) or CDA Registration/OTC Certification (for Cooperatives); and
- Affidavit of Conformity that states that the individual operator is allowing his franchise or unit to become part of a cooperative or corporation.
In an announcement, the DOTr said it understands the concerns of every driver and operator regarding the deadline. This is why all offices of the LTFRB and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the country have designated priority lanes for those who will still file their application for consolidation and to provide them with assistance related to the filing of their application.
The offices of the above-mentioned agencies will be open from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the whole month of December 2023.
The DOTr, LTFRB, and OTC will remain open and ready to provide any assistance in order to make the consolidation process easier and seamless for all drivers and operators under the PUVMP.
