THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) was tasked to investigate the killing of a barangay chairman in Caloocan City.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar gave the order to the NCRPO and vowed that all angles would be investigated to establish the motive behind the crime and identify those behind the killing.
He likewise assured the grieving family of the victim that the suspects would be put behind bars and justice will be served for the victim’s untimely demise.
Jerry Apostol, chairman of Barangay 143 in Caloocan City, was tending to his store when he was gunned down by still unidentified suspects on Monday (November 1) evening.
The victim died on the spot while his wife sustained injuries from the incident.
“The investigators will look at all possible angles to determine the motive and to identify the gunmen,“ he said.
All police units were likewise directed to further intensify the campaign against loose firearms and private armed groups to prevent incidents like this from happening again.
He also appealed to those who may have information on the incident to come forward and help authorities in solving this case.
