Poll workers who worked overtime during May 9 polls to receive additional pay from Comelec

ELECTION workers who were forced to work overtime due to issues and problems during the national and local elections will receive an additional P2,000 pay from the Commission on Elections (Comelec)

According to Comelec Commissioner George Garcia, those who will receive additional honoraria are the poll workers in 2,308 precincts that experienced failure in the vote counting machines and SD cards.

Garcia specifically mentioned the members of the electoral boards, the Department of Education Supervisor Official (DESO) staff and support staff who will receive the same P2,000 added honoraria.

Garcia likewise apologized to the Department of Education for not being able to give the amount it requested as additional pay for teachers who worked over and above the number of hours they are expected to work due to the many issues and problems experienced in the electoral process.
