Police probes killing of cop in Tarlac

CAMP OLIVAS, CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA–Philippine National Police (PNP) Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 Regional Director, PBGen. Valeriano de Leon ordered the Tarlac police to conduct a thorough investigation and deeper probe on the shooting to death of PSsgt. Michael Maun y Icban, who was assigned at the PNP Aviation group based at Clark Pampanga and a resident of Brgy Cristo Rey, Capas, Tarlac.

Investigation showed that the victim was traversing Blk 10, Brgy. Cristo Rey in Capas, Tarlac when a black vehicle suddenly overtook him. Two unidentified suspects alighted from their vehicle, a black Toyota Altis, with plate number ZEW 568, and shot several rounds at the vehicle of PSsgt. Maun. The suspects then fled toward a southward direction onboard their vehicle.

The victim was rushed to the Ospital ng Capas for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The incident was captured in the installed CCTV near the area. An immediate follow-up operation was conducted for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.

Subject vehicle was found abandoned at Sitio Baloy, Brgy Arangonen, Capas, Tarlac. Upon verification with the Land Transportation Office, the plate number of the vehicle used by the suspects was registered to another vehicle, an extreme black Toyota Vios 1.56 A/T.
