Police intercept vehicle loaded with marijuana in Isabela

COMBINED police units in Northern Luzon intercepted on Sunday a vehicle carrying a large load of dry leaves suspected to be marijuana.

The composite team is made up of units from the Provincial Police Offices (PPO) of Kalinga and Isabela, Regional Mobile Force Battalion Police Regional Office 2 (RMFB PRO2) and 1503RD (Police Regional Office Cordillera) PROCOR.

The vehicle, a Grey Toyota Vios, with Plate Number NDE 9548, was chased and intercepted along Brgy. Alunan, Quezon, Isabela on June 27, 2021.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said that Rizal Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Kalinga PPO received an information that a Grey Toyota Vios bought marijuana leaves and stalks in Tabuk City Kalinga.

The Rizal MPS then proceeded at their Quarantine Control Point wherein the said vehicle was seen approaching.

Our local police signaled the driver to stop but ignored the checkpoint and accelerated towards Abbut, Quezon, Isabela. Immediately, they conducted hot pursuit and informed PTOC Kalinga and nearby MPS for a dragnet/chokepoint operation. At about 2:10 in the afternoon of June 27, 2021, joint personnel of PROCOR and PRO2 were able to arrest the suspects along Brgy. Alunan, Quezon, Isabela,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar identified the suspects as Jerwin Lipalam, 24 years old; Jayson Pallares Tresmil, 24 years old; Alvin Lampag Guiab, 20 years old; and alyas Marco,17 years old.

Confiscated from the suspects were 10 pieces of dried marijuana leaves and stalks in bricks form weighing MOL 10 Kgs valued at P1.2 million; one Grey Toyota Vios; one unlicensed cal. 38 revolver; five live ammo of cal. 38; one cellphone; one Sagada bag and one sling bag.
