PNP to launch crackdown vs. e-sabong

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will launch a crackdown on E-sabong operations based on the directive of President Rodrigo Pangulong Duterte to put a stop to this form of online gambling.

In a statement, PNP Public Information Office Chief PBGen. Roderick Augustus Alba said they will immediately implement the crackdown once they receive detailed guidelines of the order from the higher ups.

The president earlier decided to stop e-sabong based on the recommendation of Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año, where the bad social impact of this form of online gambling was pointed out.

President Duterte said he will leave it up to Año regarding the release of a detailed set of guidelines on the order shutting down e-sabong.

Meanwhile, PBGen. Alba assured that the PNP has the capacity to implement the order with the proper coordination with concerned agencies of the government.
