PNP reports crime two days before May 9 polls

A TOTAL of 61 crimes were reported by the Philippine National Police (PNP) two days for the May 9 national and local elections.

According to PNP spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo, 40 of these incidents did not have anything to do with the elections.

However, 14 of the incidents have been confirmed to be election-related while seven are suspected and currently under investigation.

Five of the incidents were reported in Region 3, four in Region 1, three in Region , and one each for Regions 10 and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The highest number of cases involved shooting incidents with four, followed by two cases of qualified trespass to dwelling and two cases of grave threats.

Aside from this, PCol. Fajardo said they have not yet received any serious threats to security for the elections on Monday.
