THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said they are prepared just in case the national government decides to extend the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR).
“Our Metro Manila mayors and the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) are in a better position to decide on whether or not the ECQ in NCR would be extended,” said PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar.
The Department of Health (DOH) has said the imposition of the strictest form of quarantine in the National Capital Region could be extended due to the increasing number of COVID-19 infections.
This matter will be discussed by the IATF, according to the DOH.
PGen Eleazar reminded police commanders to also look after the welfare and safety of police personnel, especially if the ECQ is extended.
Metro Manila has been placed under ECQ from August 6 to 20 to curb the spread of the more infectious COVID-19 Delta variant.
