PNP arrests 24 additional election gun ban violators

THe number of election gun ban violators in relation to the May 9 national and local elections continues to increase.

Data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed that today, April 27, the number of election gun ban violators already reached 2,865 individuals after an additional 24 were arrested yesterday.

Of that number, 2,760 were civilian, 45 were security guards, 17 were members of the PNP, 17 are Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel, while 26 violators came from other groups.

The most number arrested were at the National Capital Region (NCR), followed by Region 4-A, Region 7, Region 3 an Region 6.

Also confiscated were 2,180 pieces of firearms.

From January 9 up to the present, there were already 2,738 gun-ban operations were conducted by the police in different areas in the country.
