PH gains high score in NEDA National Action Plan

THE Philippines gained headway in the National Action Plan of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) after posting a high rating for October.

The high score is deemed to reflect the effectivity of the government’s campaign against COVID-19.

For the National Action Plan Phase 4, NEDA Undersecretary Rose Marie Edillon said the Philippines got a score of 4.83 for the month of October, which is higher than the 4.42 score the country posted in September.

Edillon explained that they are already contented with the country’s latest score in the National Action Plan because of the changes in policies in the fight against COVID-19 like the implementation of granular lockdowns instead of total lockdowns, which was the practice before.

Based on data, the improved infection management of the government and more aggressive vaccine rollout were the reasons for the country’s high score.

It is because of the constant arrival of COVID-19 vaccines and the decrease in the number of infections.

Meanwhile, the NEDA also felt elated with the good standing of the country in the Nikkei survey, which saw the country climb to 103rd place from its previous 121st ranking in the recovery index.

For now, NEDA has no forecast yet for the country’s score for the months of November and December but hopes that the government will continue to do well.
