PCG extends gratitude to non-profit organizations, private groups for their support to troops in WPS

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) extended its gratitude to various civil society groups for their support to PCG personnel currently deployed in the vicinity of the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

According to PCG spokesperson CG Rear Admiral Armando Balilo, the PCG is overwhelmed by the many calls offering gifts, essential goods, clothes, and medicine to PCG personnel in the area.

“On behalf of the men and women of the organization, our PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, is sincerely grateful for the generosity of non-profit organizations and private stakeholders who extend the spirit of giving to the county’s brave Coast Guardians,” Balilo said.

The PCG Commandant also extended the organization’s appreciation to the PCG Auxiliary (PCGA) members who consistently provide assistance to Coast Guard troops in the WPS.

Rest assured that we will swiftly transport their gifts to Palawan so our Coast Guard troops can receive them before Christmas. For those who still want to send goods, they can coordinate with the PCG Public Affairs Service via the official PCG Facebook page or its operations number (0927-560-7729),” the PCG spokesperson emphasized.

Meanwhile, CG Admiral Gavan has directed the Coast Guard District Palawan to ensure the safety and security of at least 40 boats participating in the Atin Ito Coalition’s three-day Christmas caravan that will commence on 10 December 2023.

They are expected to visit the waters surrounding Patag Island and Lawak Island and personally deliver gifts for the troops and residents of Pag-asa Island.

As early as now, we are preparing our security personnel and positioning our vessels to uphold maritime security and safety during the three-day humanitarian initiative,” CG Admiral Gavan pointed out.

As our fellow Filipinos step foot on Pag-asa Island, we hope this experience will ignite the spirit of patriotism and inspire them to stand with us in safeguarding the country’s sovereign rights within our exclusive economic zones,” he added.

The Coast Guard Commandant also urged the public to include in their prayers the safety of Coast Guardians as they perform their mandated duties, especially amid rough seas and bad weather conditions.
