Pasay Court orders release of Neri Naig-Miranda amid Estafa charges

The Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 112 has ordered the release of Neri Naig-Miranda, who was arrested on November 23 for multiple charges, including alleged syndicated estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code.

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera confirmed that the court’s release order had been received. The decision follows a motion filed by Neri’s legal counsel to quash the charges against her.

In its ruling, the court directed that the estafa case be returned to the city prosecutor for a preliminary investigation, further questioning the sufficiency of evidence at this stage.

Reports indicate that Neri remains in the hospital, where she was transferred last week for a medical evaluation. As she has yet to receive clearance from her attending physician, the release order will be served there.

Meanwhile, actress-comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto has also been implicated in related cases concerning Dermacare, the same company linked to Neri’s charges. Although Rufa faces charges under the Securities Regulation Code, estafa is not included in her case.

In a statement, Rufa denied any involvement in fraudulent activities and assured the public of her full cooperation with authorities.

The court’s decision marks a significant development in the high-profile case, with further investigations expected to shed more light on the allegations against all involved parties.
