Pagasa warns public against scammers posing as officials

THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a warning to the public about unauthorized individuals impersonating its officials to solicit money for a purported foundation.

According to their advisory released today, Wednesday, the agency revealed that a contractor recently reported receiving an email from someone falsely claiming to be a PAGASA official and requesting a donation.

PAGASA has strongly condemned this act of misrepresentation and clarified that no one is authorized to use its name, or that of its officials and employees, to seek personal or organizational favors.

PAGASA is urging the public to remain vigilant against such fraudulent activities. Anyone who receives suspicious emails, calls, or messages of a similar nature is advised to report the incident immediately.

Reports can be directed to the PAGASA Public Information Unit via telephone at (02) 8284-0800, local 1100 to 1101, or through email at [email protected].

The agency emphasized its commitment to transparency and assured the public that it does not engage in unsolicited solicitations.
