Only 1,591 new COVID-19 infections today, lowest in eight months — DOH

THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded a new low of 1,591 new COVID-19 infections today, lower than yesterday’s 2,303 count, according to the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, November 3, 2021.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 2,793,898 cases.

The number today is the lowest daily tally in eight months, or since February 24 this year when the DOH recorded only 1,557 new infections.

Active cases, on the other hand, continue its downward trend with only 38,014 cases today after registering a 40,786 count yesterday. Active cases or patients are those undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.

Recoveries from COVID-19 today, meanwhile, registered 4,294 new recoveries compared to yesterday’s 4,677 recoveries. Overall, COVID-19 recoveries in the country have reached a total of 2,712,298 cases.

The DOH also recorded 186 COVID-19 fatalities today compared to yesterday’s 128 deaths to bring the total COVID-19 deaths to 43,586.

Positivity rate today, meanwhile, dropped even further to 5.6 percent from yesterday’s 6.8 percent based on 29,489 people who were tested.

Around 74.7 percent of the cases were mild and asymptomatic, the DOH bulletin noted.

A total of 349 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 330 were recoveries and four were deaths.

There were also 132 cases that were tagged earlier as recoveries but were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.

All laboratories were operational on November 1, 2021 while seven laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the seven non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.3 percent of samples tested and 3.0 percent of positive individuals.

The agency continues to remind the public to ensure their safety and to strictly observe safety protocols and to have themselves vaccinated as soon as possible. It also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
