COMMOTION erupted at the MRT-3 Sunday morning after a stone was thrown by an unidentified suspect at one of the train’s coaches after it left the Taft Avenue station in Manila.

One passenger was hurt in the incident after the stone broke a window of the third car of the MRT-3 train.

The train was on its way to the Magallanes station when the incident occurred at around 6:51 a.m., according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

A 51-year-old man was injured and was immediately given first aid at the Magallanes Station, then brought to the San Juan De Dios Hospital in Pasay City for further medical attention, the DOTr statement said.

Hours after the incident, the suspect, said to be a garbage scavenger, was arrested. An investigation was conducted to determine the suspect’s motive.

DOTr Secretary Art Tugade said the suspect must be put behind bars.

The MRT-3 management likewise assured the public that charges will be filed against those involved in the incident and necessary steps will also be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future,” the DOTr said further.
