No plans to impose travel ban vs Hong Kong

THE Philippine government will not close its borders for those coming from Hong Kong despite the reported increase in COVID-19 cases in that country.

According to Acting Presidential Spokesman and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles that airline flights going to and from Hong Kong will still continue.

Nograles emphasized an earlier directive by President Rodrigo Duterte that said no Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) anywhere in the world would denied the opportunity to come home to the Philippines even if they came from a country with high COVID-19 cases such as Hong Kong.

However, Nograles clarified it would be a different story if the government of Hong Kong would be the one to impose a travel ban on flights coming from the Philippines.

However, as of now, there are no regulations yet being implemented by the HK government.

The Palace, however, advised Filipinos who will go to Hong Kong that they should be fully vaccinated already and if, should have taken their booster shot against COVID-19.
