The Denver Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic is the the NBA’s Most Valuable Player as announced by the league today.
Known as “The Joker” because of his signature crazy and blind passes, he completed a remarkable rise to the pinnacle of basketball after entering the league in 2014 as a lowly 41st draft pick. He is now the lowest drafted NBA player to win the highly-coveted award.
The 6’11 Serbian averaged a career-best 26.4 points per game with 8.3 assists and 10.8 rebounds in the regular season and currently leading the Nuggest in the semis of the Western Conference against the Phoenix Suns.
At 26-year-old, Jokic is also the first player in Denver history to take the accolade and has also level up as the team’s leading scorer this year after their scoring machine Jamal Murray (21.2 per game) was injured in the middle of the season.
