PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte today announced the appointment of Vice Admiral Artemio Abu as the new Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Vice Admiral Abu’s appointment takes effect today.
Abu, who is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1992, also served as Commander of the Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) and Task Force Commander of the PCG Task Force Kaligtasan sa Karagatan before being appointed to his new position today.
“He is a nobleman from Barangay Luta Sur, Malvar, Batangas, and a holder of a Master’s Degree in Marine Management at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada,” according to the PCG.
