A TOP government adviser said that the country entering into a new normal stage by April is still highly unlikely because of the low number of people who have availed of taking their booster shots.
Presidential adviser for entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion believes that going into the new normal phase by next month won’t happen yet as earlier expected even if the number of cases of COVID-19 continue to decline.
During the Laging Handa public briefing, Concepcion said another surge may still be possible during the second half of the year due to the low availment of booster shots by Filipinos around the country.
According to Concepcion, the level of boosting should go up to 70 to 80 percent before the alert level is removed or placed under the lowest alert level in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The level of boosting in the NCR is only at 30 percent, while boosting in other areas such as Region 5 up to Region 12 is only at 10 percent so it’s still risky and dangerous to remove the alert level 1 in many areas in the country.
