New COVID-19 infections still at 1k level with 1,894 cases; fatalities breach 45k

THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded 1,894 new COVID-19 infections today, lower than yesterday’s 1,974, according to the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, November 12, 2021.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 2,813,115 cases.

Active cases, on the other hand, went up slightly to 29,105 cases today after registering a 28,660 count yesterday. Active cases or patients are those undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.

Recoveries from COVID-19 today, meanwhile, were at only 1,421 from yesterday’s 2,388 count. Overall, COVID-19 recoveries in the country have reached a total of 2,738,975 cases.

The DOH also logged 170 COVID-19 fatalities today compared to yesterday’s 142 deaths to bring the total COVID-19 deaths to 45,035.

Positivity rate today, meanwhile, rose slightly to 5.5 percent compared to yesterday’s 4.9 percent based on 43,591 people who were tested.

Around 68.7 percent of the cases were mild and asymptomatic, the DOH bulletin noted.

A total of 27 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 23 were recoveries and with one death.

There were also 145 cases tagged earlier as recoveries but were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.

All laboratories were operational on November 10, 2021 while two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the two non-reporting laboratories contributed, on average, 0.7 percent of samples tested and 1.5 percent of positive individuals.

The agency continues to remind the public to ensure their safety and to strictly observe safety protocols and to have themselves vaccinated as soon as possible. It also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
