The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 7,058 new COVID-19 cases today to bring the overall tally to 1,223,627 COVID-19 infections in the country.
Meanwhile, active cases remain above the 50k level with 53,757, or 4.4 percent of the overall case count.
There were also 6,852 recoveries recorded today for a total of 1,149,010 individuals who already recovered from COVID-19.
However, there were 139 deaths logged today for a total of 20,860 fatalities.
All laboratories were operational on May 28, 2021 and there were 4 laboratories that failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the four non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.9 percent of samples tested and 1.6 percent of positive individuals.
The DOH notes that 13 duplicates were removed from the total case count wherein eight are recoveries and one fatality.
Moreover, 80 cases tagged earlier as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
