THE Department of Health (DOH) today logged 3,666 new COVID-19 cases, which is almost half of the 5,249 total recorded yesterday, according to the latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, June 22, 2021.
At present, the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country has already reached 1,367,894, with 52,696 listed as active cases or patients who are currently being treated in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
A total of 60 cases were added to the list of COVID-19 deaths today, which is also almost half of the 128 cases recorded yesterday. This brings to 23,809 the total number of COVID-19 fatalities.
There were also 56 cases previously reported as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
Also, 11 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which eight were recoveries.
There were also 6,810 new recoveries from the disease today, which is slightly lower than the 7,053 recoveries posted yesterday. Currently, there are now 1,291,389 individuals listed as total recoveries.
Meanwhile, positivity rate is at 11.8 percent from 31,222 people who were tested.
Majority, or 95.2 percent of the cases, are mild and asymptomatic.
All laboratories were operational on June 20, 2021 while 12 laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the 12 non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 3.0 percent of samples tested and 3.1 percent of positive individuals.
The low number of cases reported today was due to the low output of laboratories last Sunday, June 20, 2021. The DOH is also looking at other possible reasons for the low output of cases recorded today.
