A TOP Palace official confirmed the latest batch of appointees named by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to head the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
According to Press Secretary Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles, President Marcos, Jr. appointed Southern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro to take the reins at the AFP in the next three years.
For the PNP, Northern Luzon Police Area Commander Lt. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. will take over the country’s over 200,000-strong police force.
Azurin Jr. graduated from the Philippine Military Academy and is a member of the “Makatao” Class of 1989.
The NBI will also get a new director, Medardo De Lemos, who is also the agency’s current officer-in-charge.
De Lemos is the bureau’s most senior officer, having been part of the NBI for the past 37 years.
