NCRPO launches its ‘Meals on Wheels’ program in Caloocan, Pasig

THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) launches its first “Meals on Wheels” program in Metro Manila.

Due to the pandemic, hundreds of thousands of people and families in National Capital Region, alone (NCR) are experiencing hunger and poverty.

Despite this, NCRPO Chief, Police Major General Debold Sinas inaugurated his own initiative called “Kalusugan Mo, Pangangalagaan Ko”.

The project, aims to bring undernourished young students’ food to their own homes.

Sinas wants to help the government in the fight against Covid-19 due to limited resources through meals on wheels by providing nutritious foods to young students in Metro Manila.

It was on October 16 when the program started where uniformed policemen went from house to house giving hot and healthy food to the young students in Barangay 1 in Caloocan City and Barangay Bagong Ilog, Pasig City.

This was followed on October 18 when members of the Manila Police District (MPD) led by Sinas distributed medicines, vitamins and nutritious foods such as freshly-cooked fortified rice porridge, nutri-pasta, nutri-oats chocolate, brown rice nutty fruity bar and freshly-prepared chocolate milk drink, in 54 Barangays.

Sinas stressed that due to the pandemic, more young people are experiencing malnutrition and as a ‘police of the people’ it is their obligation to ensure they can provide proper nutrition to strengthen their health and resistance in fight against the dreaded virus.

“If the youths are left malnourished, the consequences of the people may also be malnourished because they are the only hope for many generations to come,” Sinas explained.
