More than a hundred riders caught for not using designated bike lanes in Parañaque

THE Parañaque City government has already implementing the apprehension of bike and motorcycle riders who violated the ordinance for not using the designated bike lanes particularly in the city’s main Sucat Road.

More than a hundred riders were ticketed by the Parañaque Traffic Parking and Management Office (PTPMO) since early Monday, October 19, 2020.    

According to City’s Traffic chief Teddy Barandino, they started hunting down and reprimand riders who were not using the bike lanes along Sucat Road.

Each biker who violates the city ordinance will fined P500 while those who caught on CCTV cameras will fined 1,500.

Parañaque would be implementing a second phase for bike and motorcycle lane in both sides of the Sucat Road.

The said lane will start from Sucat interchange to SM Sucat in Barangay San Dionisio and vice versa.

Mario Jimenez, the public information office chief said that Mayor Edwin Olivarez has already ordered the full implementation of the ordinance after a month-long extension of advisories.

Jimenez explained that riders who were apprehended today were only given a verbal warning and may be penalized and fined if they’re caught again next time.
