THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced today that it had awarded the P170-billion Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) modernization project to a San Miguel Corp.-led consortium.
The Notice of Award (NOA) for the NAIA Public-Private Partnership Project was already given to the SMC-SAP and Company Consortium, which beat out GMR Consortium and the Manila International Airport Consortium.
In a statement, the DOTr said the project is “expected to improve passenger experience at the airport, achieve more efficient operations, and expand airport capacity.”
The project seeks to upgrade the country’s premier international gateway through the construction of passenger terminals, runway, aircraft parking area and airfield lighting, and facilities that will enable intermodal transfers at the terminal.
