INCREASED activity was noticed in Mount Kanlaon in Negros Island.
In an advisory issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the agency was able to record 18 volcanic earthquakes around Mount Kanlaon for the past 24 hours.
The agency reminded that the volcano is now under Alert Level 1. This means the volcano is in an abnormal state.
The local government units and the public are reminded that a 4-kilometer permanent danger zone is in effect due to a possible explosion of the volcano.
