More than 20,000 flood victims in Bulacan, receives ‘ayuda’

THE Provincial Government of Bulacan announced on Tuesday that a total of 22,324 families in the province who were affected of the heavy rainfall and flooding caused by the Southwest Monsoon which was enhanced by Typhoon Fabian received relief goods through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

It was learned that Governor Daniel Fernando immediately instructed PSWDO Head Rowena J. Tiongson to conduct a series of relief operation in the flood-affected towns.

The distribution started last August 1-2 in Calumpit wherein a total of 3,738 families were given food packs including Barangays Sta. Lucia, San Miguel and Gatbuca; 8,093 families from Balagtas town including Barangays Panginay, Wawa and San Juan; and 1,600 families from Marilao town including Brgy. Poblacion II.

The relief distribution continued last Saturday in Barangays Gugo, Meysulao and Frances in Calumpit town wherein additional 3,491 families were aided and from Marilao town including Barangays Abangan Norte and Poblacion wherein additional 6,641 families received relief goods.

Meanwhile, Fernando encourages everyone to pray and to remain vigilant especially these coming months of heavy rainfall.

“Ganitong panahon na natin mararamdaman ang mga ganitong malalakas na pag-ulan. Wala pa man tayo sa buwan ng Setyembre, Oktubre, Nobyembre kung saan kasagsagan ng mga kalamidad at mga bagyo, ipagdasal na po natin ang kaligtasan ng bawat isa at at tayo naman po sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ay patuloy na magbabantay at tutulong sa inyo”, the governor said.

Recently, the PGB also helped families who were affected in the fire incidents in Brgy. San Juan in San Miguel and Brgy. Sta. Ines, in Bulakan.
