More than 20 hospitals to be added for Phase 2 of pedia vaccination

MORE than 20 hospitals are expected to be added for Phase 2 of COVID-19 pediatric vaccination for those with “comorbidities” in the National Capital Region (NCR), which will start on October 22 up to 31, 2021.

During the Laging Handa public briefing, Dr. Kezia Rosario of the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) said that the number of hospitals for Phase 2 will reach up to 23 hospitals, including those that were already part of Phase 1 of the pediatric vaccination that started last week.

Rosario added that the local government units (LGUs) in the NCR have already prepared their vaccination sites located in hospitals.

There were also some LGUs that recommended or suggested if they can use other “nearby facilities” due to space constraints in hospitals under their jurisdiction.

Rosario said these facilities already underwent assessment before they were allowed to become a vaccination site to ensure that they can give quality service with regard to vaccination.

These facilities should also be located near hospitals just in case there will be adverse events so that patients can be provided with immediate assistance.

Rosario also clarified that majority of the vaccination sites for pediatric vaccination are hospitals.
