More than 11,000 families in Bulacan affected by “Rolly” receives aid

A total of 11,437 families in Bulacan affected by Super Typhoon Rolly on Sunday received aid of relief goods from the provincial government through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) in a 2-day relief operation in the towns of Calumpit and San Miguel on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to PSWDO head Rowena Joson-Tiongson, the recipients of relief goods are all families who have been submerged in the floodwaters until now due to the ravages of the said typhoon on Sunday.

The relief distribution was held first in Calumpit town with 5,388 families who benefited the aid on Wednesday led by Governor Daniel Fernando. The barangays affected includes Meysulao, San Miguel, Sapang Bayan and Pio Cruzcosa.

5,999 families from 18 barangays in San Miguel town were among the recipients of the food packs on the following day (Thursday).

According to Fernando, the food packs distributed contained of rice, canned goods, noodles, coffee and energy drinks.

“Tuloy-tuloy po ang pagtulong ng pamahalaang panlalawigan.. Una ang serbisyo at paglingap sa ating mga kababayang Bulakenyong biktima ng unos at kalamidad, buhayin natin ang diwa ng tunay sa serbisyo,” the governor said.

Although Typhoon Rolly did not directly devastates the province of Bulacan, many households were submerged in floodwaters wherein the province was placed under Signal No. 3.

It was learned that over 100-million is the estimated worth of crops were damaged by the onslaught of the typhoon in the province.

The governor was very grateful for the answered prayers of the Bulakenyos when the typhoon diverted and did not directly affect the province.
