Mechanic nabbed for stealing, reselling of 2 motorcycles in Rizal

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – A 25-year-old mechanic was arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the Highway Patrol Group-Region 4A (HPG) for allegedly reselling two carnapped motorcycles in Taytay, Rizal.  

Police Senior Master Sgt. Charlo Santiago led the said operation with the Intelligence Unit of the HPG 4-A, against the arrested suspect John Randel dela Cruz Francisco, a resident of 4th St. Purok 18, Javier Compound, Barangay San Juan.

According to Santiago, a certain alyas “Bugoy” tipped them information after verifying that Francisco had just steal a motorcycle days before and was about to resell it to the informant.

Francisco was immediately subdued by police moments after giving the carnapped motorcycle to “Bugoy” at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday at a fast food restaurant in Taytay.

Prior to his arrest, authorities learned that another unit of carnapped motorcycle was in Francisco’s possession.

Investigation reveals that the motorcycle found in Francisco’s home was in the alerted carnapped vehicles to be recovered by the HPG after it was taken last October 12 in Bulacan.

The owner of the carnapped Mio Sporty motorcycle Reynaldo Montalban is Francisco’s last known victim that he robbed and forcibly grabbed its ride.

The suspect is now facing charges of violating Republic Act 10883 or the Anti-Carnapping law and by the Presidential Decree 1612 otherwise known as the Anti-Fencing Law.
