PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte would only consider placing the entire archipelago under the least stringent community quarantine level after the government shall have breached the 2-million mark representing the number of vaccinated Filipinos against COVID-19.
In a press briefing, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, in his capacity as spokesperson of the National Task Force Against COVID-19, said that the President would also be considering allowing the resumption of face-to-face classes under such conditions that he himself has set.
“The President reiterated his stand that he wants a more rigorous, more widespread vaccination program. Ang sabi niya, unless he sees two million vaccine doses being administered, that’s when he will start considering the opening of GCQ (General Community Quarantine) areas, to consider putting it under MGCQ (Modified General Community Quarantine),” said Nograles.
“He wants to see a more massive vaccine rollout para tumaas ang kumpiyansa niya na mag-open ng limited face-to-face classes,” he added.
However, Nograles said that the President would require the Department of Education to make a careful study on which schools would be allowed to resume physical classes.
