PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar tasked all police units in Metro Manila to strictly enforce the adjusted curfew hours amid the general community quarantine status.

Eleazar said that shortened curfew hours did not mean PNP personnel will be lax on enforcement and assured enhanced police visibility from 12 midnight to 4 a.m.

“We will strictly implement the adjusted curfew hours. Hindi po ibig sabihin na napaigsi na ang ating curfew hours sa Metro Manila ay magluluwag na po ang ating kapulisan sa pagbabantay,” he said.

“Shortening curfew hours will allow more people to visit malls, restaurants and other establishments, a move that would help our economic recovery from the effects of the pandemic,” Eleazar said.

The PNP Chief instructed the National Capital Region Police Office to closely coordinate enforcement with barangay officials who are also tapped to strictly  implement the curfew.

Eleazar, meanwhile, appealed to the public to abide by the curfew to avoid arrest.

“Umaapela at nagpapaalala pa din po tayo sa publiko na sundin ang bagong curfew at huwag nang maglalamyerda pa pagsapit ng hatinggabi,” he said.

“We have always strictly implemented curfew and we will not hesitate to enforce our local ordinances and arrest curfew violators,” Eleazar warned.
