Marcos OKs suspension of gov’t work, classes in all levels tomorrow in NCR, seven other regions

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. today approved the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) to suspend work in government and classes in all levels tomorrow, September 26, 2022.

The order covers government work and classes in schools in eight regions: the National Capital Region (NCR), Regions 1, 2, 3, 5, Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR), Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (CALABARZON) and Mindoro-Marinduque-Romblon-Palawan or MIMAROPA.

The NDRRMC made the recommendation due to the onslaught of Super Typhoon “Karding” (international name: Noru) that is currently battering the Polillo Islands according to a 5 p.m. bulletin of state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

I have received and approved the recommendation of NDRRMC to suspend classes and work as specified in their letter. The Palace will issue a memorandum circular stating the same before the end of the day,” the Chief Executive said.

However, the NDRRMC recommendation exempts frontline agencies providing emergency services from the suspension.

“Karding” managed to keep maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph.

The northern part of the NCR that includes the cities of Marikina, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, and Quezon City is now under Typhoon Signal No. 4 while the rest of the region are under under Typhoon Signal No. 3
