Manileños urged to continue to follow health and safety guidelines

THE local government of Manila urged its citizens to continue to follow the minimum public health and safety guidelines like physical distancing, wearing of face masks, and other protection protocols as set by the national government.

This is to avoid another possible spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the city.

The call was made by Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso after three areas in the city were placed under granular lockdown following an increase in COVID-19 cases during the weekend.

“A lockdown, as per IATF policies when there is complacency and increase is COVID-19 infection in area, it is normal to place the area under lockdown. So, we would continue to have those kinds of surgical lockdowns because we want people to be able to go work, earn a living so we can slowly go back to normal,” the mayor said.

In an earlier report, the CIty of Manila currently leads in the National Capital Region with the highest number of cases these past few days..

Among the areas with high number of cases of COVID-19 are Tondo 1, San Andres, Pandacan and Sampaloc.
