Police have arrested a man behind the gruesome murder of a 20-year-old college student inside her house in Barangay New Cabalan, Olongapo City.
Suspect Ronnel Cabarrubias was apprehended in a follow up operation earlier today Wednesday, November 4, while hiding in a safehouse in San Marcelino, Zambales according to Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) Director Police Col. Randy Arceo.
Cabarrubias is scheduled to appear today at the prosecutor’s office for filing of murder charges.
Prior to his arrest, Cabarrubias was the suspect in the killing of Jennifer Dela Cruz who he repeatedly stabs inside her house on Monday, November 2.
Investigations revealed the victim died instantly due to three stab wounds on her neck.
Arceo said that the victim was a third-year college student and had been living alone. Her body was discovered by her mother around 11 a.m. that day.
Her relatives and friends took to social media to seek justice, asking witnesses to come forward to help speed up the investigation.
