SONIA Malaluan was recently appointed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) as officer-in-charge of the Maritime Industry Authority or MARINA.
OIC Malaluan has been with the agency for the past 32 years and has held various positions at the agency, OIC Deputy Administrator for Planning, Director of the MARINA Regional Office National Capital Region (NCR) and was the country’s Maritime Attaché to London, England.
Malaluan played significant roles in the various organizational changes in MARINA, including the development the agency’s rules and regulations and the crafting of the MARINA Road Map for Development program.
She is a Certified Public Accountant with a Master’s Degree in Public Administarion from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Administarion, Master of Science degree in Shipping Management from the World Maritime University in Sweden.
She completed here Bachelor of Science in Commerce Major in Accounting from the University of Batangas.
Malalulan will temporarily lead MARINA as OIC Administrator until July 31 or unti a new agency chief is appointed.
