A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental early Wednesday morning, December 11, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The earthquake was recorded at 5:26 a.m., with its epicenter located approximately 296 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Island. PHIVOLCS reported that the tremor was tectonic in origin and had a shallow depth of focus at 10 kilometers.
No significant damage is expected from the quake, but PHIVOLCS has warned that aftershocks are likely to occur.
As of this time, no injuries or structural damages have been reported. Authorities continue to monitor the area for any developments. Residents are advised to stay vigilant and follow safety protocols in case of aftershocks.
