THE state weather bureau said that a low pressure area (LPA) near San Vicente, Palawan can become a tropical depression (TD).

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday the LPA can develop into a TD within the next 48 hours.

The LPA, which brought cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms in the Western Visayas and Mindanao, will be named “Odette” once it develops into a TD

PAGASA said another TD 1,580 kilometers east of Visayas, which is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), is also being monitored by the agency.

Gale warnings have already been raised in Batanes, Ilocos Norte and Cagayan’s eastern coast, and also the Babuyan Islands and Isabela, according to PAGASA.
