THE government has allotted what many consider as a pittance token to the modern-day heroes aptly referred to as “frontliners.”
In President Rodrigo Duterte’s second monthly report to Congress on the implementation of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, at least 449 claims for compensation for health workers who contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty are being processed by the government.
Duterte said that these health workers, who have contracted COVID-19 in line of their duty, will receive a financial assistance of P15,000 each.
However, the release of funds would only take place 15 days after the guidelines prepared by the Department of Health and the Department of Budget and Management shall have been published.
Bayanihan2 also provides compensation worth P100,000 for severe or critical illness, and P 1 million in case of death.
