OPERATIVES of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized a large volume of suspected illegal drugs worth P11 billion in a dawn operation conducted in Infanta, Quezon.
Members of the NBI-Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (TFAID), NBI-Research and Analysis Division (RAD) and Lucena District Office (LUCDO) in coordination with Philippine National Police (PNP) Infanta, Quezon and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Lucena swooped down on March 15, 2022 at 4 a.m. in Barangay Comon, Infanta, Quezon and seized a massive volume of suspected methampethamine Hydrochloride or shabu.
Ten suspects were arrested while in the act of transporting the suspected illegal drugs on board three commuter vans.
The arrested individuals were identified Jamelanie Samsono, Reynante Alpuerto, Jenard Samson, Mark Bryan Abonita, Dante Manoso, Kennedy Abonita, Marvin Gallardo, Eugene Pandoma, Alvin Evardo and Jaymante Gallaro.
NBI Deputy Director for Forensic Investigation Service and concurrent NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin said that inventory and laboratory processing by NBI chemists and forensic experts on the seized 1,589 tea bags of illegal drugs is still ongoing.
NBI OIC-Director Eric Distor commended his men for a job well-done as he vowed that the war against illegal drugs will continue. Spot promotions were also given to the operatives who were part of the successful operation.
This is by far the biggest drug haul in Philippine history.
The suspects will be presented for inquest proceedings for violation of Section 5 of RA 9165 or Transportation of Illegal Drugs.
