FIVE children died and two others were injured due to landslide at Barangay Mandulog, Iligan City in Lanao del Norte, Sunday morning.
Initial police investigation revealed the landslide at Purok 2 Taparak in Barangay Mandulog happened at around 6 a.m. and affected eight houses.
The fatalities were identified as Shemabel, seven months old; Trishamae, 3 years old; John Kent, 6 years old; Sean, 4 years old; and CJ Barulan, 8 years old, all members of the Barulan family.
Injured were Sheila Mae Barulan, 26 years old; and Jessie Barulan, 24 years old.
Police Major Zandrex Panolong, spokesperson of the Iligan City Police Office, said the landslide happened due to heavy rains in the city, with houses along the river as the most affected.
The victims were all inside their home when the landslide occurred.
